Murph joined the U.S. Air Force where he learned to fly the F-15. He logged over 1,200 hours as an instructor pilot in the F-15 and accumulated over 3,200 hours of flight time in other high-performance aircraft. As the 116th Fighter Wing's Chief of Training for the Georgia Air National Guard, Murph's job was to keep 42 combat-trained fighter pilots ready to deploy worldwide within 72 hours.
After the Air Force, he founded Afterburner and has since landed on Inc. Magazine's Inc. 500/5000 List four times. Murph has been featured in The Wall Street Journal, BusinessWeek, Inc. Magazine, Newsweek, Meetings & Conventions Magazine and has appeared on CNN, Fox News, CNBC and Bloomberg News. He was also named as one of Atlanta's top 50 entrepreneurs by Catalyst Magazine. Jen "Steel" Wade graduated with her B.S. in Biochemistry from Washington State University and received her MBA from Colorado State University and is a graduate of Army Airborne training. She is a former F-16 fighter pilot and a current entrepreneur in the aviation industry.
Steel has over 1700 hours in the F-16 with 100 combat missions in Iraq and Afghanistan, resulting in 5 aerial achievement medals. Her military career was distinguished through serving as a Mission Commander and Forward Air Controller where she was responsible for coordinating timely and accurate air-to-air and air-to-ground kinetic strikes with multiple joint services and international allies. In addition, Steel was responsible for flawlessly executing the $11 million deployment of her 16-member, 12 jet squadron to Afghanistan, awarding her the Wing's Company Grade Officer of the Year award. Steel's military career cumulated with her selection into the F-16 instructor cadre where she spent the last 4 years of her active duty service teaching new students the tactics, techniques, and procedures of the F-16.
Steel is the founder and CEO of a flight school, an executive consultant with Afterburner, and a youth motivational speaker.
The MacEwen Group, LLC is led by General Mac MacEwen, U.S. Army Brigadier General (Retired), who as the Adjutant General of the Army led the Army's efforts on veteran transition, casualty operations, education programs and human resource programs. He is a retired General with over 33 years of experience and founded the MacEwen Group, LLC upon his retirement in 2015.
As the 59th Adjutant General of the Army, MacEwen was responsible for the day-to-day operations of the human resource programs of the Army and the support to its 1.1 million active and reserve soldiers and their families. This included the oversight of many of the Army's human resource programs, the Depart of Defense Postal Operations and the Army's implementation of the 2011 Veterans Opportunity to Work (VOW) Act.
During more than 33 years of service, MacEwen served and commanded units at every echelon from platoon leader to general officer level command and worked in key staff positions in both the Army and the joint force. He served tours of duty in Korea, Germany, Albania, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Iraq, and the United States.
MacEwen holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Clarion University and a Master of Arts in National Security and Strategic Studies from the Naval War College. He is also a graduate of the Command and General Staff College, and the Naval War College. MacEwen also attended the University of North Carolina's Kenan-Flagler Business School Executive Development Program.
Otis “Hoop” Hooper is a former C-40 VIP Airlift pilot and KC-135 Tanker Instructor Pilot with over 18 years of distinguished military service. As an Air Force pilot, Hoop amassed over 3,500 hours of flight time in 5 different Air Force aircraft, with almost 1,000 of those hours logged during combat. Otis deployed 8 times to multiple combat zones in support of Operation IRAQI FREEDOM and ENDURING FREEDOM and flew over 150 combat missions, earning 5 Air Medals for his aerial achievements.
Hoop transitioned from the active duty Air Force to the D.C. Air National Guard where he was a Squadron Commander, a VIP Airlift Pilot, and the Director of Operations for the unit responsible for flying members of Congress, White House staff, and other high-ranking U.S. and foreign dignitaries around the globe.
“Hoop” joined the Afterburner team in 2017. You may have seen him in magazines, on television, or the movies as he has proven the Flawless Execution model works not only in business but on a personal level as well. He was named Men's Health magazine's Top 3 “Ultimate Guys”, is a professional athlete, and has appeared in 2 major movies. He's even competed on NBC's “American Ninja Warrior” and uses the Flawless Execution model to take on difficult physical challenges regularly.
Joe's leadership and industry experience is broad-based, having served as the CEO of a number of businesses. Joe is well versed in working with high growth, start-up, and turnaround operations and has worked with a number of private equity and venture capital firms. He is also involved in several non-profit organizations, to include Literacy at the Well, a program promoting literacy in South Sudan, where he serves on the board of directors.
Joe served as a Captain in the United States Army. During his service he was Ranger and Airborne qualified. In his final assignment, Joe served as a company commander of a nuclear surety unit based in Germany. Joe received numerous awards during his service, to include both the Leadership Award and Honor Graduate Award upon completion of his Officer Basic Course.
Joe earned a bachelor's degree in accounting from Boston College where he was a Distinguished Military Graduate, a master's degree in business administration from the University of Northern Colorado, and he also completed the executive program at the Goizueta Business School at Emory University.
Will Duke is Afterburner's Director of Learning and Development. His duties include coordination of the development of intellectual property, training programs, and educational materials. He also serves as a consultant to process and continuous improvement management programs and leadership keynote speaker. With Co-author James “Murph” Murphy, he wrote the 2010 release “The Flawless Execution Field Manual.
Will graduated from Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee, while earning his commission as an officer in the U.S. Navy from nearby Vanderbilt University NROTC. As a bridge officer and engineering officer on active duty, he logged over 1,800 hours piloting the world's most complex machine, a Nimitz-class, nuclear-powered, Super Carrier. After leaving active duty in 1994, Will earned a second degree in education and taught for several years before serving 8 years as a Regional Operations Manager at Sears Product Repair Services.
This training should be mandatory for all military personnel. It helps demonstrate how the military is relevant in civilian live, not by just saying it is.
